Science

The Human Eye​:
  • Light - natural agent that stimulates sight and makes things visible
  • Tears - watery fluid between the surface of the eye and the eyelid, serving to moisten and lubricate the eyes
  • Cornea - clear front cover that focuses the light entering the eye
  • Pupil - dark circular opening in the center of the iris of the eye
  • Lens - transparent structure in the eye that helps to refract light to be focused onto the retina
  • Retina - light layer of tissue lining the inner surface of the eye
  • Photoreceptors - responsible for detecting different types of light and enabling us to see
  • Optic Nerve - transmits visual signals from the retina to the brain
  • Refraction - change in direction of a light wave due to a change in its transmission medium
  • Rods - photoreceptors that DO NOT mediate color vision
  • Cones - photoreceptors that DO mediate color vision
Function and Structure of Animal Body Parts: 
  • Electroreception - receive electricity signals given off by animals and plants
  • Infrared - a type of heat energy
  • Super Taster - superior sense of taste do to numerous taste senses
  • Sensing Cells - ​cells that receive sensing information and send messages to the brain
  • Sense Organs - eyes, ears, nose, skin and other organs to sense an animal's surroundings
  • Sense Receptors - take in the information in the environment (smell, sights, sounds, etc.) and send it to the brain
  • Signals - the information that goes to the brain
  • Vibrations - feeling movement around and animal
  • Tentacles - received signals and send them to the brain
  • Antennae - sensitive organ that can taste, smell, and feel for some animals

Social Studies

Maps Vocabulary 
  • Political Map - a map which shows boundaries of countries, states, counties, or cities
  • Road Map - a map, usually used by motorists, which shows roads and highways for driving
  • Physical Map - a map which shows landforms, such as rivers, lakes, or mountains
  • Weather Map - A map showing the weather conditions, such as temperature or rainfall, or an area
